Culinary Highlights

  • Curry Fish Head: The star of the menu, this dish is celebrated for its thick and creamy curry that envelops the fish head. Customers rave about how aromatic and well-balanced it is, making it ideal for pairing with fluffy white rice — a practice fondly referred to here as “banjir” (to flood) the rice with that delicious curry sauce.
  • Asam Prawn: Another must-try, these tamarind prawns are notable for their impressive size and the explosion of tangy, savory flavors they bring to the table. The sauce is a delightful mix that leaves a satisfying taste lingering on your palate.
  • Fried Pork & Bak Kien (Lobak): For those looking to complement their curry, the fried pork garners high praise for its crispy texture and rich flavor, while the bak kien is a tasty addition that rounds out the meal.
  • Stir Fried Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish: A simple yet delightful side dish that carries the umami flavor through every crunchy bite.

Reviews from delighted patrons affirm that Ah Lye Curry Fish Head not only meets but exceeds expectations. One customer noted, “The curry is really fragrant and lemak, best to banjir on the rice,” while another emphasized the reliably fresh and tender fish. It’s clear that this establishment has mastered the art of consistency, serving flavorful dishes that keep diners returning for more.

However, be warned: the restaurant fills up quickly, so arriving early is advised to secure your place at one of the beloved tables. Whether you’re a curry aficionado or just looking to explore authentic Malaysian flavors, Ah Lye Curry Fish Head is a destination you won’t want to miss, delivering a unique culinary experience that embodies the heart and soul of Malaysian dining culture.

Ah Lye Curry Fish Head is a great spot for those craving rich, flavorful Malaysian-style curry fish head. Located less than 5 min drive from Subang Parade / Nu Empire Subang. The curry fish head is aromatic and well-balanced, not overly spicy but still packed with flavor. The fish is fresh, tender, and cooked perfectly, absorbing all the delicious curry goodness. Besides the signature dish, the menu offers a variety of classic Chinese-style dishes that pair well with rice, such as butter prawns, tofu, and stir-fried vegetables. As we order 4 dishes (small size) for 3 adults. The portion seems small. So we do recommend to have at least 1-2 dishes to be in medium size. Total bill - less than RM100 include 2 glass plain water. The restaurant is simple and unpretentious, with a casual, no-frills dining atmosphere. It can get quite busy during peak hours, so service might be a little slow at times, but the staff remains friendly and efficient. Overall, a solid place for a satisfying curry fish head meal! Would definitely return. open DAILY 12pm-3pm / 5.30pm-9pm recommend you to be early before 6pm, as the place will be packed with people by then.

This shop originally from Taiping town and they are specializing on curry fish head. For those curry fish head 10/10 lovers, this is a must come place. The service is fast most of their dishes are sedap gila!! The Assam big prawn (tamarind prawn) 10/10 will be a great combo to go with the curry. Their fried pork 9/10 & their bak kien (lobak) 9/10 is perfectly done. Will definitely come back again and again. This place does not take reservations so only walk in and the good news is they open all year long. Only cny they will be closed for a few days.

Been awhile since I came back to this curry fish head place. Glad that they are able to maintain the taste and flavours. The curry is really fragrant and lemak, best to banjir on the rice. Steam squid also very well done, tender and not rubbery. Tamarind prawns were yummy, the sauce savoury, sour and sweet, nice mix of flavours. Nam yu crispy pork is good too.

One of my favorite curry fish head place. It is thick and creamy that is good with a lot of rice. Their asam prawn is also one of my go to food - big prawns. Not to miss their stir fried bean sprouts with salted fish.

Curry fish heads are their signature dish. Other dishes like fried vegetables, omelette, tofu, and fried pork are just as good. Note must reach early as place fills up quickly. Check opening hours.
